According to the book “Urban Bikers Trick and Tips” by Dave Glowacz, only three percent of bike rides take place at night. But almost half of the cyclists got involve in an accident or worst got killed and hit by vehicles while riding at night. At day time, less accident occurs since visibility is almost perfect, at least. Bright street light is necessary at night but you still need bike lights to be seen.
What to do to avoid bike accidents at night and keep yourself visible while biking? Here as some tips to equipped yourself for safety.
Install rear lights and reflectors. The rear strobe light is the most popular but others rely only on rear reflectors. It’s better to have both.
Wear reflective jackets or vests. If you do not have these reflective jackets or vests, never wear dark-colored clothes. Reflective sashes are ok and TSP members distributed 120 reflector sashes to all bike commuters passing by Tandang Sora and Quirino Highway in QC, recently. It will make you visible to all motorists.

Wear bright-colored clothes. It will add more visibility especially neon-colored shirts since it will reflect more light coming from the street lights and passing vehicles.

Use reflector tape and spoke. Put at least one spoke reflector on each wheel and use red reflector tape at the back frame of your bike and white reflector tape at the front fork of your bike.
