A FATHER GEARED FOR SUCCESS

LIFESTYLE ON WHEELS – Motorsiklo News

We are so privileged to grace us ones again with a known personality in the motoring industry. He facinated us with his family on our TV program, Lifestyle On Wheels TV, back then and shared his family holidays with us. This time he shares his inspiration in the life of being a father and his passion for riding.

Mr. Bobby Orbe, 53, looks great with his sport-like physique. A father of four – Patrick, Jacob, Bianca, & Kyla, and the GM of Wheeltek Big Bikes Division since 2014.

Riding becomes your father and son bonding. What made them love riding with you?

I taught Patrick and Jacob to ride a Peewee Motorcycle at an early age of 7 and 5, respectively. Bianca was taught much later owing to the fact that she was our family’s princess  Since then, we have always taken the opportunity to ride together on our motorcycles and bikes even.

Long before endurance events and the Philippine loop was created, my late wife, Candy, and I have always envisioned to ride around the country as a family on our motorbikes. We were just waiting for the kids to grow up and have their own licenses to be able to do It.

On the off-road scene, we were actually referred to as the MX family way back then because we were all over the country attending big and small races as a family and meeting friends along the way. We were also into road racing on both small and big displacements, trail, and mc riding community events in various capacities including organizing events.

In the course of growing up with the sport and the community, I guess my kids have also taken pride in the fact that we have made a name in the community and it gives us a special pride when we go out on our bikes and promote the sport that we have grown to love as a family. I suppose this is what made them love riding with me and our family.

What made you ride and what’s your favorite bike ride so far?

When I got to try a friend’s Honda Monkey in the 70’s I knew I was hooked and dreamt of having one of my own. Then the dream became a reality in the mid-’80s when I got my first big bike, a Kawasaki Z400 parallel twin.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to try out many other bikes since then but none tickles my fancy as much as the Suzuki Hayabusa in terms of natural beauty, sheer power, and grace.

Any message to our friends this father’s day and to our fellow riders and motorists?

Being a parent nowadays is so stressful because we train ourselves and our loved ones to be “geared for success” so much so that when a crisis hits such as this COVID Pandemic, we do not know how to cope with problems and lose our ground.

As a Father, we should train to have a mindset of “gearing for failure” When you know how to manage failure, then we get to appreciate the true value of succeeding in life. Remember, 99% of fathers can manage with success, but 99% of fathers cannot manage with failure.

As a rider, be a good role model for others to emulate. Riding is freedom, but with a high degree of responsibility for everyone’s safety. As the Harley-Davidson slogan puts it “All for freedom, freedom for all”. #Letsridena
