A guide on Driver’s License Renewal (Phils.)

With the Driving Enhancement Program (DEP) implemented as a requirement to renew Driver’s License, here’s the new LTO process.

Effective October 28, 2021, the Driving Enhancement Program (DEP) is now required for Driver’s License Renewal. In case, if you do not have any violations, your renewal validity is 10 years. This call from LTO is to further equip and re-orient drivers and motorists to road safety practices. In addition, to give an update on existing traffic rules, laws, and regulations.

For an expired Driver’s License for more than two years, you’re still eligible to re-apply provided you completed the theoretical and practical driving exams. In such cases, renewing your Driver’s License can be done online and also through LTO Driver’s Licensing Renewal Offices.

REQUIREMENTS

• ORIGINAL DRIVER’S LICENSE (Pro or Non-Pro)
• ANY GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID (ORIGINAL & PHOTOCOPY)
• TAX IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (TIN), IF EMPLOYED
• DULY FILLED-OUT DRIVER’S LICENSE APPLICATION FORM. (DOWNLOAD IT HERE)
• MEDICAL CERTIFICATE ACCREDITED BY LTO
• CERTIFICATE OF PASSING THE THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL (FOR EXPIRED DRIVER’S LICENSE OF MORE THAN 2 YEARS)
• COMPREHENSIVE DRIVER’S EDUCATION CERTIFICATE (CDE)

EXPECTED FEES

• LICENSING FEE (Pro & Non-Pro) – Php 585
• PENALTY FEE IF APPLICABLE
  • 1 day to 1 year expired license – Php 75
  • More than a year to 2 years expired – Php 150
  • More than two (2) years expired (re-exam) – Php 225
• COMPUTER FEE – Php 67.63
• APPLICATION FEE AND COMPUTER FEE IF APPLICABLE
  • Application Fee (for more than two years expired) – Php 100
  • Computer Fee (for more than two years expired) – Php 67.63

Dormant driver’s license Fee (Not renewed for over two years).

• APPLICATION FEE – Php 100
• COMPUTER FEE – Php 67.63
• LICENSE FEE – Php 585
• PENALTY – Php 225
• ADDITIONAL COMPUTER FEE – Php 67.63

STEPS AND PROCEDURE

• VISIT YOUR PREFERED AND NEAREST LTO OFFICE OR CENTERS WITH YOUR REQUIREMENTS ON HAND.
• SUBMIT REQUIREMENTS TO AUTHORIZED LTO PERSONNEL ON DUTY (WINDOW 1 | HELP DESK FOR VERIFICATION)
• UPON PERSONAL RETRIEVAL OF DETAILS, PROCEED TO THE NEXT STEP AS INSTRUCTED BY THE PERSONNEL.
• PAY THE CORRESPONDING FEES TO THE CASHIER WINDOW.
• PROCEED TO THE ENCODING SECTION FOR PHOTOGRAPH, BIOMETRIC, AND E-SIGNATURE.
• WAIT FOR THE RELEASE OF YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE (Pro or Non-Pro) OFFICIAL RECEIPT. EXPIRED CARDS WILL ALSO BE RELEASE IN THIS SECTION.
• AFFIX YOUR NAME AND SIGNATURE ON THE RELEASE FORM AS INSTRUCTED BY THE PERSONNEL.
