Contracts Worth $1.7 Billion Awarded for ADB-Funded Malolos–Clark Railway Project
LIFESTYLE ON WHEELS
Car owners and motorcycle riders will now have an option to travel to the north via train. Worry no more about heavy traffic should you choose to drive or ride. The Malolos-Clark Railway will begin construction soon and expect to help reduce road congestion in Metro Manila and the surrounding provinces of Bulacan. This project, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), will have three civil works contracts worth more than $1.7 billion.
During the construction, it will expect to hire 24,000 local construction jobs in the next three years and will employ 1,400 people once it’s in operation. It will serve at least 350,000 commuters daily and will boost economic activity in the region.
“The signing of these contracts means the Malolos–Clark Railway Project construction will now go on full speed, helping the country’s economic revival over the next 12–24 months.”
– Asia Ramesh, ADB Director General for Southeast
