Grab, MOVE IT partner with Maxicare to expand health coverage for driver-partners

OFFICIAL RELEASE: Grab Philippines | PUBLISHER: ADVAI
MANILA, Philippines — Grab and MOVE IT are expanding their Kaagapay Social Protection program through a partnership with Maxicare, giving eligible driver-, rider-, and delivery-partners free, unlimited doctor consultations starting in November 2026. The program is currently being piloted in Metro Manila, with planned expansion in other cities.
The enhanced program also gives partners the option to extend consultation benefits to a family member, widening its coverage beyond the driver to the household that depends on them.
Coverage under the program is earned on a rolling basis, giving partners a fresh opportunity to qualify every month. Partners who meet the program’s eligibility criteria in a given month are covered the following month. Beginning November 2026, eligible partners may avail of free, unlimited consultations at Maxicare Clinics nationwide during their covered month. For an optional monthly fee, they may also nominate dependents to receive up to three consultations a year.
Through the partnership, Grab and MOVE IT driver-, rider-, and delivery-partners are also given the option to top up benefits like the Maxicare Insurance of up to ₱50,000 and Annual Physical Exam.
The program expansion was shaped by consultations with the platforms’ driver communities, who named healthcare access as the area where they most need support. It also reflects the platforms’ broader effort to strengthen social protection and support partners’ livelihoods beyond daily earnings.

“More Filipinos are building their livelihoods on platforms, and we recognize the growing need for programs that support their health and long-term security,” said Grab Philippines Managing Director Ronald Roda. “Many of our driver-partners are their family’s breadwinners, and they spend their days looking after the people who depend on them. Through our partnership with Maxicare, we are taking a meaningful step to make sure someone is looking after them too, so they can keep building a future with us with confidence.“
The Maxicare partnership forms a core pillar of the Kaagapay Program, which also includes free life insurance from AXA, subsidized Pag-IBIG contributions, and health and medicine incentives. Separately, partners across both platforms are covered by emergency insurance from Cocolife and AIG for accidents and other unexpected incidents on the road.
“Access to healthcare should feel within reach, especially for people whose livelihoods depend on being out on the road every day. Through our partnership with Grab, we hope to give driver-partners greater confidence that they can seek medical care when they need it, without the hassle,” said Raymond Hernandez, Chief Customer Officer of Maxicare Group. “We extend that sense of security beyond the driver-partner to their loved ones, helping make healthcare more accessible for the families they work hard to provide for.”
The expanded Kaagapay program was launched at the close of Health & Wheelness, an annual event that Grab Philippines and MOVE IT hold for partners and their families. Health & Wheelness offers drivers and riders free medical, dental, and eye check-ups, along with registration and booths from PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG and SSS. Partners could also attend talks on nutrition, mental health, money management, and road safety.
