DINGRAS, ILOCOS NORTE
DIngras was not so relevant to visit and in fact, it’s not included in the “A”-list. But this legendary municipality is known for its numerous ancestral houses. If it has lots of ancestral houses, will that mean this 2nd class municipality is packed with a stature-rich community? So why is it so legendary?

- People who revolt against the Spaniards are those same people who are forced-labor to do construction works.
- The ruin, town plaza, Spanish ancestral houses, convents, the public market of the town that still exist, were built in accordance with the system to define the status of the indigenous population imposed by the Spanish colony.
Dingras Revolt
The Dingras Revolt or the Ilocos Norte Revolt was caused by unjust taxation and alleged abuses by tax collectors of the Spanish colonial government.
- It began when six tax collectors who had arrived from Vigan were killed. The governor that time, Governor-General Santiago, put an end to the uprising mutiny.
- Rebels were pardoned and taxation was reformed.
