WE ARE DUCATI: A CENTURY OF PASSION RIGHT IN THE HEART OF MANILA

–  Alex A – Lifestyle On Wheels

The street of Manila on May 09 echoed the sound of the engine, pulsing with the heart of a hundred-year legacy. As part of the global “WE RIDE AS ONE” event, the local Ducati Community made a monumental milestone. This is the 100 years of Ducati.

The Manila leg masterfully blends Italian engineering and Filipino Heritage. Ducatists from across the region converged to turn the city of Manila into a moving gallery of performance and style.

THE ROUTE: A Ride Through Time

Kicking off at Rajaj Sulayman Park in Malate, hundreds of Panigales, Multistradas, Scramblers, and Monsters lined up against the backdrop of Manila Bay. The pack rolled out towards the capital, passing through the greenery of Luneta Park and the iconic silhouette of Manila City Hall. The journey continued across the Pasig River via the neoclassical Jones Bridge. The energy bustles throughout the ride, going to the Plaza Caldera de la Barca in Bonondo, and down to the wide expanse of Padre Burgos Ave. The ride reached the walled city, converging at the Illustrado Restaurant in Intramuros for a well-deserved breakfast and a morning’s main program.

CULTURAL HERITAGE INSIGHTS: The 7 Stopovers

The Ducati’s centenary route was more than a scenic path. It was an endurance of history and the beauty of evolution.

1. Raja Sulayman Park (The Jump-off)

The park was named after the last native chieftain of Manila. It stands as a symbol of Filipino resistance and sovereignty. As for Ducati, it rose from the rubble of WWII to redefine global motorcycling.

2. Luneta Park (Rizal Park)

The birthplace of Philippine nationalism. Just as Ducati has become the Italian pride over the last century, Luneta has forged the Philippine national identity.

3. Manila City Hall

Its famous clock tower and “coffin” shaped building represent the administrative resilience. A reminder of how structure and brands alike must adapt and modernize across generations.

4. Jones Bridge

Noted to be “The Most Beautiful Bridge in Manila,” this marvel connects the old Binondo to the civic center. Its pre-war glory mirrors Ducati’s own journey, honoring its 1926 roots in radio components while leading the way in modern, high-tech performance.

5. Plaza Calderón de la Barca (Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz)

Right at the foot of Binondo church, the plaza is the heart of the world’s oldest Chinatown. The fusion of culture, much like Ducati’s Italian DNA, has found a passionate home in the heart of the Filipino riding culture.

6. Padre Burgos Ave.

Named after one of the martyred GOMBURZA priests, this asphalt stretch serves as a corridor between the city’s most significant landmarks. It mirrors the #SafeRideJourney and the discipline of respect, both the machine and the road.

7. Ilustrado Restaurant (The Finish Line)

Found within the walls of Intramuros, Ilustrado is a sanctuary of Spanish-Filipino heritage. Gathering here preserves the space of elegance of the past. A fitting end to a ride celebrating the 100 years of an “immortal icon.”

As we shared a meal in Ilustrados, Ducati isn’t just about the motorcycle. It’s about the community that moves as one. Whether you’re riding the 1970’s model or the latest 2026 century edition, the “WE RIDE AS ONE” event proved that while time moves in seconds, the passion is timeless that keeps us enjoying our lifestyle on wheels.
