For riders, the name Chetak brings a lot of memories. The original version ran on gas. Was on the roads back in 1972. It became a workhorse for many people. Now the old classic shape is still there. The loud engine is gone. It has a zero-emission electric motor instead.
At the launch, the Tri-Motors team shared the details that really matter if you plan to use it for trips:
- 3.5-Hour Charge Time: Plugging it in gives you 80% charge in about three and a half hours—roughly the time it takes for a regular lunch or a quick coffee.
- 130 km Range: That gives you enough space to go from Cebu City to nearby towns and back without always checking the battery meter.
- 70 Km/h Top Speed: It is fast enough to keep up with traffic on roads without feeling too slow.
Tri-Motors didn’t just leave the scooters in the booth. They created a test area outside the convention center so local riders could sign up, get on and try it themselves.
For people in Cebu who want to avoid gas without giving up on quality, the Chetak offers a strong and heavy option in the growing local electric vehicle market.
