Nissan marks its 90th year, emphasizing a pioneering legacy in electric vehicles and transport innovation

Nissan celebrates its 90th year reflecting on a rich history of innovation. Particularly in electric vehicles (EVs). From the pioneering Tama EV in 1947 to the world-changing Nissan LEAF in 2010 and futuristic concepts like the Hyper Punk and Hyper Urban, Nissan remains at the forefront of automotive technology.

A survey of 2,000 UK adults by Nissan highlighted the public’s top transport innovations over the past 90 years, with the Channel Tunnel, Concorde’s maiden flight, and satnav taking the lead.

Looking ahead, the majority believes (69%) that this technology will make an impact on reducing environmental hazard risk in transportation. Artificial intelligence (AI) in both the car industry (27%) and public transport (29%) garnered notable support.

The survey also showcased a positive impact on lives, with 70% of respondents recognizing the benefits of transport innovations, making travel easier (54%), improving commute abilities (71%), and facilitating connections with family and friends (30%).

In terms of electric vehicles, the Nissan LEAF ranked 19th among significant transport innovations. EVs were voted the most promising innovation for the future of UK sustainability.
