Driving Into the Holidays: Metro Pacific Tollways South Prepares for 2023 Traffic Surge on CAVITEX and CALAX

The holiday season is upon us, and as festivities kick into high gear, so does the traffic on major expressways. Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South), a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), is gearing up for the anticipated surge in traffic on the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) and Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX). Anticipating the Surge

From the third to the last week of December 2023, MPT South expects a 15% to 20% increase in traffic on CAVITEX, particularly from motorists in Cavite heading to Manila. The average daily traffic count is projected to rise to 208,000 vehicles, up from the current 181,000. Similarly, CALAX is expected to experience a significant 35% increase in traffic, reaching 47,000 vehicles.

High-Alert Status and “Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko” Program

To address the holiday rush, MPT South will be on ‘high-alert’ status, implementing the “Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko” program. This initiative, running from December 22 to January 2, involves additional on-ground manpower for traffic management, toll collection, emergency medical services, and incident response teams. Motorist assistance is available 24/7 through Customer Service Centers, a hotline (1-35000), and social media channels.

MPT DriveHub App for Seamless Transactions

MPT South encourages motorists to use the MPT DriveHub app, providing convenient access to Easytrip and CCLEX RFID services. With just a few taps on their phones, users can reload in real-time, check balances, plan routes, and receive assistance in roadside emergencies.
