Kia’s strategy to shift away from combustion engine models to environment-friendly electric vehicles has come early this year. The reveal of the Crossover EV6 2022 fast charging vehicle will soon grace the road in a full swing.
During the livestream event in the US, the EV6 will come early next year. This is their first dedicated battery-electric vehicle built based on Hyundai and Genesis platform.
The Electric-Global Modular Platform (EGM) is part of the Kia EV6 platform including the 11 electric vehicles Kia will deploy soon until 2026. The “EV” is understandably the prefix towards the word “Electric Vehicles”.
The EV6 boasts an expected power of 160-kilowatt motor of up to 167 horsepower. Its preliminary target mileage is up to 316 miles (+508 km). That is enough to climb the steep mountains of Baguio City from Manila and back (+495 km).
What about the charging of its battery? The EV6 can be charged up to seven hours using its onboard 11 kW charger. Charging units will be an issue but according to UP-EEI, the Rapid Electric Vehicle Charging units are ready and on their way for deployment.
It can power-up vehicles in minutes like e-trikes, e-scoots, and other EV’s available in the country. So the Kia EV6, if Kia has plans, is viable to ply around the Philippines.
Its interior is environment-friendly too. The extensive use of recycled plastics from its seats, dashboards, side door panels are 100% enviro-compliant. For full specification, visit their website kia.com.
The EV6 is available in standard EV6, GT-Line, GT-Line S, and the coming soon GT. The standard EV6 is tagged in the UK at 40,985 pounds (approximately P2.8M).
