Globe Group and Ayala Corp Partner with Gogoro to Revolutionize Sustainable Transport in Philippines with the launching of Gogoro Smartscooters and Battery-Swapping

Globe Group’s 917Ventures, Ayala Corporation, and Gogoro Inc. have launched Gogoro Smartscooters® and battery-swapping stations in the Philippines, introducing a new era of sustainable transportation to the country.

The companies are combining smart, convenient, and accessible electric two-wheelers to offer a better transportation alternative to the Filipino public, aimed at addressing expensive gas prices and reducing carbon emissions in line with the partners’ shared commitment to sustainability and the Philippine government’s sustainable development agenda.

The Gogoro ecosystem, which has already transformed two-wheel mobility in Taiwan and other countries, aims to provide an accessible path for riders to adopt sustainable urban mobility, play a key role in battling climate change, and make the world better for all.

The system’s swap-and-go technology allows riders to swap out depleted batteries for charged ones in just seconds, making it a convenient and eco-friendly alternative to ease congestion and reduce carbon emissions in the metro.

The partners have unveiled the first Gogoro battery-swapping station at The Globe Tower, which is the start of a network of Gogoro battery-swapping stations planned initially for Metro Manila and eventually across the country.

Gogoro Smartscooters®: A ride like no other

Gogoro Smartscooters® are electric two-wheelers developed by Gogoro Inc., a Taiwanese company specializing in sustainable urban mobility. The Smartscooters® are equipped with an electric powertrain and advanced smart features, including smartphone connectivity, GPS, and cloud-based data analytics.

One unique feature of the Smart-Safe battery is its safety mechanisms. The battery has been designed to be resistant to puncture, crushing, and impact damage, and is also equipped with sensors to detect abnormal temperature, voltage, and other conditions. If any abnormalities are detected, the battery will be disabled and the rider will be notified via the Gogoro app or on the dashboard of the scooter.

Additionally, the Gogoro pilot in Globe will allow 70 employees to try out the Gogoro Smartscooters® and battery-swapping, testing the system for two months starting in May and sharing insights on their experience to ensure an even better customer experience once the e-bikes become available to the public later this year.
