With four hospitals initially listed as part of 1,000 Angkas Shields donation to fronliners, Mayor Isko Moreno initialized the distribution in his city last Sunday. He received the Angkas Shields from Angkas Chief Transport Advocate George Royeca. The turn-over ceremony happened immediately after the flag-raising ceremony. Vice Mayor Dr. Maria Sheilah “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan was also present in the ceremony.
The city of Manila will deploy this Angkas Shields that will directly benefit the following:
- At least 1,000 health workers in need of transportations to the hospital to ensure the HCWs will be brought home safely after their shifts.
- Commuters plying in and out of Manila that will possibly help suppress the increasing number of cases of coronavirus that was reported 5,179 cases in the city alone.
- Six city district hospitals, namely, Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, Ospital ng Maynila, Ospital ng Sampaloc, Ospital ng Tondo, Sta. Ana Hospital, and Justice Jose Abad Santos Memorial Hospital where Angkas bikers will be deployed.

Their hospitals are the hubs where the HCWs fight the battle against the virus every single day. We believe that by providing our HCWs the services that they need steadily and consistently, and by focusing on these locations in partnership with the LGUs, we can make a difference.”
