Located in Rodriguez, Rizal or formerly known as Montalban, the Mt. Balagbag trail site is closer to Manila for about 35.2 km. but the time of travel is almost the same compared to the IPO dam back trails. Consequently, the road repairs are in full swing going there are still unaccommodating but the trail site is breathtaking. You can even stay for an overnight moto-camping if you prefer. The trail might not be that challenging for basic trailers but the possibility to traverse some parts of the Sierra Madre may add up to a thrill.
MT. MAKILING, LAGUNA
Mount Makiling or Maquiling is an inactive volcano that stretches in the provinces of Laguna and Batangas. The Laguna side is best known for its trail site due to its unprecedented summit. And this is where adventure is at. It is 77.1 km away from Manila and a 1 hour and 55 mins ride to get there. What to expect? Summit, summit, summit, and summit. Yes! The view is superb to any degree and the trail is challenging as well, for some. Lush greenery is still present so you’ll be intimidated to make them your future dumpsite by any means. Your future campsite might be.
