Don Bosco Students Gear Up for the Real World!

Ever wondered why most technically inclined individuals are very equipped with their craft? They mostly learn from basic experience and application. Yes, and Don Bosco Technical Institute of Makati’s auto-mechanic graduates are in for this kind of learning. They are out of the classroom and go straight to the garage and let their hands get dirty! This is a new direction made possible with the partnership of Chevron Philippines and American Chamber Foundation Philippines.

The SIL or Supervised Industry Learning (SIL) program is a new concept. It is imposed to give young students an engaging opportunity to learn hands-on applications. The program also aims to teach not just theory. Think of it as a boot camp made for mechanics. You can see students do the engine change oil process but supervised by a seasoned mechanic.

These students are gaining invaluable experience. They are also helping out local Caltex workshops with an extra pair of hands. It’s a win-win situation! By the end of their four-month training, these students will be certified auto mechanics ready to conquer the industry.

Chevron and AmCham have been partners in progress for years. This latest initiative is just another chapter in their story. They are helping young Filipinos build brighter futures.
