Amid Heavy Downpours, is it Safe to Ride?

Safe to ride or not during rainy heavy downpours, don’t let rainy days bring you down with these basic motorcycle safety practices.

Is it safe to ride during heavy rain? Motorcycles remain to be the practical and reliable mode of transportation despite heightened restrictions. Essential workers use motorcycles to tackle their daily work and tasks.

Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI), reminds riders of safety measures to be mindful driving in the rain or along a wet road. Here are the basic motorcycle safety practices to keep riders and road users safe during heavy rains.

Inspection Protection

Check the motorcycle’s fluids. When oil leaks are mixed with water, it becomes slippery and dangerous. Let your mechanic check it for leaks.

Gear Up Your Rainy Day Essentials

Wear proper riding gear. Helmets, pads, raincoats, rain boots, or riding jackets are the most effective safety measures. Gears might take up too much of your luggage space. But, some motorcycles can carry them after use securely.

Ride Smoother with Better Brakes

Riding out under the sun compared to when you’re under the rain is different. Ensure properly inflated tires with enough pressure suitable for wet roads. And also, have proper brake padding to stop when needed.

“With motorcycle once again serving as a major mode of transportation to deliver essential goods to our doorsteps and for workers as they go to their workplaces, riders must ensure even more their safety on the road. At Honda, we will do our best to keep providing value-added, high-quality motorcycles for Filipinos to face the pandemic and show support to our hero riders.”

– Hervic Villa,  Motorcycle Planning Department Manager

Honda suggests a perfect motorcycle for safe riding practices like the Honda Beat, Airblade, and the PCX160. Do check them out at your favorite retail motorcycle shops.
