The thrill of the Triumph Trident 800 media test ride at Kabsat proves the triple-cylinder power meets the curves of Sierra Madre.

The morning air at the peak of Marilaque Highway provided the perfect backdrop for the Trident 800 debut. Gathered at Kabsat, the iconic cliffside cafe in Tanay, media, KOL’s, and riders enjoyed a “breakfast and bikes” session. It felt more like a community reunion than a formal test ride activity. Over coffee and a short technical briefing, the anticipation grew. The Trident has grown up, and it brought more muscle to the mountain.

Stepping out for the test ride, the first thing you notice is the “Neo-Retro” evolution. It retains the clean, minimalist lines of the 660. The look is more purposeful with its factory-fitted belly pan and color-matched cowl.

The real magic lies in the new 798cc triple engine. As we departed Kabsat in batches, the bike immediately showcased its prowess. The 115 PS output isn’t just a number; it’s a smooth, surging wave of torque. That makes its work of the steep Sierra Madre climbs easy.

Navigating the sweeping bends toward the curved highway, the Trident 800 felt remarkably planted. The upgraded Showa Big Piston forks and the new 6-axis IMU are doing their job well. In addition, the safety net of cornering ABS and traction is in control. It seems this bike encourages confidence. Seasoned rider whose chasing apexes will be satisfied testing this ride.

The standard Triumph Shift Assist (quickshifter) was the star of the ride. It allows for seamless gear changes that keep the triple-cylinder singing through the valley. Personally, the sound of the engine seems like powerful music.

Returning to Kabsat for a post-ride debrief, the Trident 800 isn’t just a mid-weight contender. This will probably be a top-tier choice for those who demand premium tech without sacrificing the soul of a classic roadster. Triumph has hit the “Goldilocks” zone once again for this bike.
