STEP BACK RUMBLER, HERE COMES THE METEOR!

CRUISE ANY ROAD EASILY WITH THE ROYAL ENFIELD METEOR 350

Back in the early 50s, Royal Enfield’s commitment to the US market has led to a creation of a big displacement Super Meteor 692 cc engine capable of handling speeds as much as 100 mph (160 km/h). Upgrades and design development on chassis, design of its materials used, and the considerable parts to keep up with the technology.

Then recently, a Meteor with almost half of its engine size comes into the production that is expected to win the heart of the cruiser guys. Will this Meteor 350 can stand its feet against the Rumbler a.k.a. the Thunderbird 350? Or will this permanently replace the Rumbler bloodline?

For starters, the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 is awarded as the Motorcycle of the Year 2021 by C-Magazine India. So let us take a closer look at this motorcycle built to cruise.

The official website of Royal Enfield described the Meteor as the eternal essence of riding, the spirit of the cruise, and an easy thoroughbred cruiser that is ready on both open highways and can handle the challenges of an urban commute. It was a totally new bike that seems to resemble the Rumbler. Not that popular RE model here in the Philippines but the cruiser category has a following.

During the test, we concentrate on three factors that might serve as a basis that this Meteor 350 is not a re-harsh and re-issued model of the Rumbler.

STYLE AND COMFORT

It might be both the Rumbler and the Meteor are similar, but the styling is different and it starts with its front led lights and circular rear lights.

The Meteor 350 has a long 1400mm wheelbase. Its frame design made a lower saddle position of 765mm and can be lower further for a better cruise feel while riding. It compensates for the ground clearance which is slightly higher than the Rumbler.

The Meteor 350 is based on the all-new J-platform, twin-downtube spine frame, and is said to be larger compared to the Rumbler. In every possible way, it confirms that the Meteor is not a re-launched Rumbler a.k.a. Thunderbird 350. It has its own looks and spirit.

POWER AND FLEXIBILITY

The heart of the Meteor 350 comes with a SOHC with 2 valves. This engine design replaces the old OHV design, making lesser engine fatigue. It has a 5-speed, manual transmission and a suspension system that is up to date, a Front – Telescopic fork, and Rear -Twin-tube shock absorbers.

With good acceleration and speed comes great stopping power. The Meteor 350 has superb brakes where it has dual-channel ABS as standard.

KEEPING UP THE PACE

This is the first in the Royal Enfield line that features the Tripper™ navigation system.  The Meteor 350 features are the first-ever Royal Enfield that is powered with a navigation system powered by Google Maps and the Royal Enfield App. It easily connects smartphones with the motorcycle through Bluetooth. Tripper™. This brings navigation solutions in a modern way.

The Meteor 350 comes in FIREBALL (Yellow and Red), STELLAR (Blue, Red, and Black), and SUPERNOVA (Brown and Blue) variants. Each of which has its own character and looks. Make it yours and is available at an affordable price of Php 232,000.00 for Fireball, Php 241,000.00 for Stellar, and Php 252,000.00 for Supernova.
