Hyundai accelerates creating opportunities for disadvantaged youth

Hyundai Accelerate is to support the access of Filipino youth to quality technical education and turn them into holistic professionals.

Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) has partnered with the Don Bosco Institute of Makati (DBIM) and the Department of Education Taguig City and Pateros (DepED TAPAT) school division to launch a new educational program called Hyundai Accelerate. The program is dedicated to creating opportunities for disadvantaged youth who are passionate about the future of automotive and mobility.

Automotive Technology Scholarship Training Program

Forty qualified individuals from the National Capital Region (NCR) will be enrolled in the program, which will provide them with an opportunity to receive a scholarship to study automotive technology at DBIM. The scholars will undergo an 8-month classroom-based and practical training program, followed by a 4-month internship at a Hyundai service center. They will also receive quarterly and mid-term progress reports to assess their competency and commitment level.

The goal of Hyundai Accelerate is to support the access of Filipino youth to quality technical education and turn them into holistic professionals. The program also serves as a reflection of HMPH’s commitment to providing aftersales services to its customers.

The launch of Hyundai Accelerate was held at the DBIM campus in Makati City on June 27, 2023. The event was attended by representatives from HMPH, DBIM, and DepED TAPAT.

In his speech, HMPH President Dongwook Lee said that the program is a special one because it not only cultivates teaching moments but more importantly uplifts the lives of future mentees. He also expressed his excitement to meet the first batch of scholars and become a part of their journey.

Dr. Cecilia Ayles, DepED TAPAT Education Program Supervisor, said that the program is a great opportunity for the youth to learn about automotive technology and develop the skills they need to succeed in the workforce. She also thanked HMPH for its commitment to providing educational opportunities for disadvantaged youth.
