Honda Philippines joins the country’s fight against COVID-19 not just by promoting social distancing protocols but also in promoting the safety and joy of mobility, as envisioned in the “ONE DREAM” campaign, for the Filipino community.
Being a safety advocate and part of the Honda Safety Driving Center, Honda gently reminds newbie riders and motorists alike to observe these tips to safely ride amid this COVID-19 Pandemic.
GOT TO BE SAFE than be sorry. Remember these phrases as an acronym of safety.
General Appearance. Make sure your bike looks good and in a rideable condition.
Oil. Use your engine dipstick to check engine oil levels within the max-min range.
Tires. Check for any signs of cracks, bulges, and tread wear or any underinflated pressures.
Tension of chain. Check chains if it’s the right model, well-lubricated, and in proper tension.
Operation of controls. Check throttle play, clutch lever free play, and snapback operations.
Brakes. Test both front & rear brakes and cable conditions to ensure if working properly.
Engine. Make a visual check on your engine for any leakages or loose fittings.
Side Mirror. Make the side mirrors clean, clear, and free from scratches.
Alignment of steering. Secure smoothness of handlebar play and must be well-bolted.
Fuel. Make sure the gasoline cap is securely closed and not leaking.
Electrical / Lights. Ensure all electrical-based switches and devices, like the horn and lights, are properly functioning.
Wear Proper Protective Gear. Riders should wear complete protective riding gear for safety. That includes a helmet, mask, gloves, leather jacket with an elbow and back support, and knee pads. This ensures additional protection for safety.
Follow Traffic Rules and Guidelines. Follow guidelines set by the authorities when riding and mind traffic rules. If uncertain, Honda Safety Driving Center will guide you with safe riding practices. Be sure to bring necessary documents – license, working certificates, valid IDs, among others, to show them in checkpoints as required.
