Adventure in the Cordilleras Day 1

POWER ON THE GO

The team used their personal ride and faced the first level of the challenge with two Yamaha Aerox and one Kymco Like. The stock Yamaha Aerox 155cc was used by RL Cruiser while the other one with a customized set-up was ridden by Anda Ting. The stock Kymco Like 125 was Lex’s preferred ride.

They also equipped themselves with ample gears enough to face the 4,816 curves of the mountain. THH Helmet from Bikerbox, the BELL RSD helmet model bought from Germany, and HJC Helmet from Triumph JT was their personal choice of head protectors. Riding jackets and pants was necessary as always and waterproof jackets are essentials as well.

Every stopover, the rides used were checked due to bad weather and are protected by Loctite all-around fluids and sprays. The high-performance LOCTITE ML-11 MULTI PURPOSE MAINTAIN LUBE penetrates through metal assemblies to release rust and seal out moisture which enhances corrosion protection and rust prevention. During the travel, it prevented rust, seizure of metal moving assemblies like suspension systems thus providing needed lubrication. Safety during the stop and go was hard to maintain and LOCTITE SF 7235 BRAKE CLEANER has done a lot of jobs. It is a solvent formulation designed to remove dirt, oil, grease, brake fluid, and brake dust deposits from brake calipers, drums, disks, cylinders, pads, linings, shoes, and surrounding components. It comes in an aerosol can, it was easy to apply.

There are two starting points for the first level but the team chose Ritz Legarda Hotel in Baguio City traversing a counterclockwise route to Ambuklao dam view deck, Petron Aritao in Banaue, St. Mary’s Church in Sagada, Garden Breeze Hotel in Banaue, Bessang Pass park in Cervantes, Petron Tagudin Mina in Ilocos Sur, the stretch of La Union, and then back to Baguio City to make the challenge complete. It seems like it can be completed for approximately 15 hours on the map route but the team decided to take it slow and enjoyed the culture and scenery of the north by allocating 3 days and 2 nights.
