FILIPINO RIDERS STRUGGLE IN MALAYSIA; LOOK TO FIND STRIDE AT JAPAN LEG

The UMA Racing MMR Yamaha Philippines team embarked on their quest to reclaim the UB150 ARRC Championship, but they faced a challenging start. Despite April King Mascardo battling an injury sustained during practice, he demonstrated determination and qualified in 5th position on the grid. Gian Carlo Mauricio, still finding his place in the ARRC, began at the 20th spot.

Having adapted to a stronger field of competitors in the first round, the duo was better prepared for the next race. Race 1 witnessed a closely contested battle with no rider gaining a significant lead. However, tragedy struck on the last lap at turn 15, resulting in a massive crash that took out several riders, including Mascardo. Mauricio, fortunately unharmed, managed to secure an 11th-place finish.

In race 2, the racers opted for a more cautious approach to avoid further mishaps. Unfortunately, Mauricio encountered technical problems and was unable to continue the race. Mascardo, determined to make up for the previous race’s did-not-finish (DNF) result, briefly held the lead but settled for 6th place.
