The Metro Manila Subway is real!

NO MORE talk, NO MORE drawing, the Metro Manila subway project is real and DOTr only has PROJECTS, PROJECTS, PROJECTS, and BUILD BUILD BUILD.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is turning the country’s first-ever Metro Manila Subway. Under the strong-willed and unwavering leadership of Secretary Art Tugade, it is a reality after 50 years!

The concept for a subway mass transport project started in 1973. Consequently, the project does not have a feasibility study yet. Moreover, do not have NEDA Board approval. No contract either was awarded.

“Ngayon po, matapos ang 50 taon, ang matagal nang pinapangarap na kauna-unahang SUBWAY sa Pilipinas ay unti-unti nang naisasakatuparan.”

– Secretary Tugade, DOTr

In fact, the Metro Manila Subway Project already has an approved investment and funding. Its partial operability section of civil works and trains contracted out. Luckily, the actual construction began in 2019 with site-clearing works at the Valenzuela Depot is on a swing

Two (2) of the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) measures 7 meters in diameter. They weighed 700 tons each. Both are now on the Philippine shores for the underground works within this year.

The subway, dubbed as the ‘Project of the Century,’ will further stretch across 33.103 kilometers. In spite of this long stretch, it targets to cut travel time between Quezon City and NAIA. It will only take 35 minutes instead of one (1) hour and 30 minutes.

NO MORE talk, talk, talk. NO MORE drawing, drawing, drawing. We only have PROJECTS, PROJECTS, PROJECTS, and BUILD BUILD BUILD.
