Mio Gear is ready for a challenging ride

The Yamaha Mio Gear is built to conquer the concrete jungle of the city, but can it stand out for a long challenging ride?

Yes! Finally, we have a chance to ride the Yamaha Mio Gear beyond its purpose as a daily get-go. This is an automatic (AT) scooter that is ready for both daily work and plays. Available recently in the last year of 2021 here in the Philippines, this is perhaps the much-awaited scooter. It features convenience for almost everyday mobility. Although this may be true, can this new Mio Gear stand up to what the Mio family we have known for?

We travel the mountain ranges of Rizal traversing the scenic view of Laguna and Quezon. We reach as far as the seaside beaches and churches of Batangas. And concluded the entire test ride in the open sanctuary of Nuvali in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

The Rizal-Laguna Loop Leg of the Philippine Motorcycle Tourism, made possible by the Tourism Promotions Board, is an interesting trip. At the same time, we discovered something that is previously unseen about the Yamaha Mio Gear.

The Yamaha Mio Gear and the Mio Family

The Yamaha Mio Family has proven that automatic (AT) motorcycles are the best in all-around-ride. That includes city traffic, convenience on workload duties, and comfort on both the rider and the pillion ride.

On the other hand, group rides for an out-of-town trip are also a thumbs-up. You can carry everything you need for the long ride and the same carry back home the “pasalubong”. What’s the difference between the Mio Gear apart from its brothers and sisters?

Mio Gear is the newest member of the Mio family that is fresh and made out of its purpose- work and play. If we take a closer look, it might look like a mini-Nmax with a similar touch of design and personality to the Mio.

PLAY AND REPLAY

Riding the Yamaha Mio Gear is FUN! It made any work as play and a weekend trip is, well, play. Its functionality for a get-go-play stands out. The charging dock serves well during the entire trip.

The console box is deep enough to carry a drinking bottle and some stuff necessary along the road. What’s good about this is we charge our phones while our drinking bottle is in place. Functional indeed.

We expect to carry loads at the front-board and it will not be a problem. It has enough space for both luggage and feet. Should we carry extra-load, there’s an extension footboard to keep the riding in comfort. At the same time, it has a double hook on the front and at the seat to secure them tightly.

Since it banners a tough ride, we notice a durable part of the body. It is at the sides of the step board, near the pillion passenger step board, and at the sides of the console box. This makes Mio Gear protected from scratch at any given riding scenario.

GEARED TOWARDS THE SUMMIT

What to expect when riding on top of the hill? Moisture, drizzle to unforeseen rainfall, cold weather, and sometimes unexpected traffic. The Mio Gear outfits the sudden change of weather at an elevated slope.

The analog meter panel may look simple but everything you need during the trip keeps us posted. Moreover, there is no humidity inside of it so it serves its purpose well.

At high rev, the 125cc SOHC blue core engine with SMG or Smart Motor Generator sounds smooth. The eco-indicator works during long straight driving while accelerating. That shows fuel economy and reliability without power shortage output.

In like manner, Electric starter and Kickstarter is a plus. Riding with those features gives assurance that wherever you are, you can freely start and go even in a secluded area. Not to mention, the start-stop-system features add efficiency reducing the amount of time the engine spends idling.

FREEDOM ON THE FREEWAY

As expected, even at high speed and with an extra load, the Mio Gear is equipped. The freeway going to the wide highways of Batangas and Quezon Province is a snap.

Safety at high speeds is handled well. Suspension on both front (Telescopic) and rear (Unit swing) are responsive to unpaved roads. Its brake in front (Hydraulic disc brake) and rear (Drum brake) is enough to manage a good stop. And this makes us very excited about our #StopOver that is not included on our itinerary.

San Juan Nepomuceno Church, San Juan, Batangas

The Parish of San Juan Nepomuceno is 179 years old to date found in the old town of Pinagbayanan, San Juan. Looking closely, it was made of stone and concrete. But back then, it was mostly made only of bamboo and materials from coconut trees. And later on, the bell tower was constructed to attach the church.

  1. Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your content seem to be running off the screen in Opera. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know. The design look great though! Hope you get the problem fixed soon. Cheers
