DOTr RELENTLESS IN GIVING FREE RIDE TO HEALTH WORKERS
LIFESTYLE ON WHEELS
The Department of Transportation together with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), help frontliners ease the commute with a free ride. This initiative is not only delivered in the National Capital Region (NCR), but also in other regions of the country.
Last May 07, 2020, a total of 656,354 ridership, of which 131,335 total in the Metro Manila and 525,019 in other parts of regions, was recorded. With the help of digital technology available such as GPS and Google Maps, Live location and tracking can be monitored to assist commuters and frontliners. This was made possible with the strong department’s coordination with PLDT Enterprise, and Vectras Inc.
20 routes of bus cruising in the Greater Manila Area with GPS location tracking devices installed on buses. Health workers will know where to avail such free rides with the click on LIVE LOCATION at the Sakay.ph’s website, and mobile app.
The DOTr also continues to serve medical workers coming from the “We Heal as One Centers” in Metro Manila such as Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Rizal Memorial Stadium, Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), World Trade Center, Filinvest Tent in Alabang, the Philippine Sports Complex in Pasig, and the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City. 488 vehicles have been deployed across the Philippines to serve such needs.
DOTr with the assistance of petroleum giants, Phoenix Petroleum, CleanFuel, Petron, and Seaoil Philippines, provided FUEL SUBSIDY and assistance to transport companies that are part of the free ride.
The TOLL FEE remains FREE was implemented through the FREE TOLL FEE program in cooperation with toll operators on the DOTr’s Toll Regulatory Board (TRB)
