CHERY Auto Philippines/United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI) is showcasing three electrified models—two of which are new unveilings—at this week’s Manila International Auto Show (MIAS)

Poised to be the arrowhead in the country’s rapid and relentless push towards electrified mobility, CHERY Auto Philippines/United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI) is showcasing three electrified models—two of which are new unveilings—at this week’s Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), which runs from April 13-16 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

The two models are the compact new CHERY Tiggo 7 PRO Hybrid and the all-new subcompact CHERY Tiggo 5X PRO Hybrid. The fast-selling Tiggo 8 PRO e+ Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle midsize 7-seater crossover will also take center stage at the CHERY booth at MIAS.

“The models that we will unveil are anchored on our Q-Power Global Platform, which is the culmination of CHERY’s 25-year power technology development, spanning all future mainstream power forms including hybrid, pure electric, and hydrogen. We use state-of-the art 48V hybrid technology on two of our latest models bringing further reduction in fuel consumption and emissions in their daily drives,” he added.

The hybrid system in the CHERY Tiggo 7 PRO Hybrid and Tiggo 5X PRO Hybrid replaces the traditional alternator with a Belt Starter Generator (BSG) that works by recovering the kinetic energy generated when braking. This energy is then stored in a 48V battery and is
used to assist and increase the torque and power generated by the internal combustion engine on demand.

The system is intelligent and detects the need, based on the driver’s driving style, when there is a need for economy or performance, using the developed algorithm to its maximum potential. As a result, there is 14 percent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions and savings of up to 13 percent in fuel consumption.

Another notable difference with CHERY’s 48V hybrid system is the performance improvement. The Belt Starter Generator System delivers an additional 10hp and 40Nm of torque to assist the gasoline internal combustion engine.

CHERY’s hybrid technology is also equipped with a start-stop system that turns off the engine such as during traffic light stops and starts automatically when the accelerator is pressed. This system also helps reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions, in addition to minimizing idle noise while the vehicle is stationary.

The entire software development and calibration of the engine management system, in addition to the integration with the Belt Starter Generator (BSG) and discharge algorithm of the hybrid technology will deliver an electrified driving experience.
