Experience a safe journey to the South, bridging time from historic Silang to Tagaytay on the neo-classic Suzuki Access
– Alex A – Lifestyle On Wheels
The steady hum of a 125cc engine is more than just mechanical noise. Amidst the chaotic, rhythmic pulse of Metro Manila, that sound becomes a “way out.” The feature of your ride is a mechanical heartbeat signaling the start of an escape.
We at Lifestyle On Wheels are proud to present our 1st Safe Ride Journey Feature for the year. To be clear: this isn’t one of our community pocket-ride events—this is an in-depth, lifestyle-focused test-ride review. We took the All-New Suzuki Access on a solo editorial journey, piloting it through a southern loop that dared to bridge the gap between centuries. From the weathered stones of the historic past to the glass-and-steel momentum of a rapid future, our ride proved that ‘commuting smart’ doesn’t mean leaving your soul at the curb. It means finding the perfect cadence between heritage and the open road.

The Machine: Access to the Neo-Classic
The Suzuki Access officially invaded Philippine roads following its grand launch on October 4-5, 2025, at Market! Market!, Taguig. The journey for the media and influencers concluded on October 16, 2025, during the All Access Media Ride.
This machine is a stylistic time capsule. It draws inspiration from the 1986 Suzuki Gemma Questo. It looks vintage, but the performance is purely modern. Leaving the metro, the 124cc SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) engine delivered a punchy, linear acceleration that made merging into highway traffic effortless. Despite the heat, the engine remained composed, promising a fuel-sipping 57 km/L. That means we could focus on the scenery rather than the fuel gauge.

The Vibe: A Sanctuary at Pamahaw
Selecting Pamahaw (by Dahon at Mesa) as our midday sanctuary was a deliberate choice to match the “Neo-Classic” soul of the Suzuki Access. We sought a place that didn’t just serve food, but echoed the very vibe of our ride: a blend of heritage and modern refinement.
With its stunning Filipino-Bali tropical architecture, Pamahaw offers an Al Fresco experience. It feels like an extension of the open road. This feature offers a breathtaking, unobstructed view of the Tagaytay ridge. The perfect backdrop of this Asian restaurant serves the vibe of the scooter’s preppy aesthetic. Parking feels like a stylistic homecoming. The cool mountain breeze and the restaurant’s rustic wooden interiors allowed us to “throttle down” and truly soak in the premium atmosphere of the South.

💡 Did You Know? The Language of Pamahaw
One of the best parts of the ride was chatting with the local staff. While most know Pamahaw as the Cebuano and Ilonggo word for “breakfast” (derived from bahaw or leftover rice), the staff shared a different perspective. To them, it resonates with an Ilocano spirit of preparing for a long day’s journey. Even in Batangas, the word evolves to mean a light, soulful snack. Like our ride, the name itself is a bridge between the North and the South.

The Soul: A Step Back in Time
The journey then led us to the Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Candelaria in Silang. This leg tested the scooter’s agility. Navigating the narrow, busy streets of the Silang Poblacion required a nimble touch. This is where the 106kg weight really shines. It makes tight U-turns and sudden stops feel effortless, almost telepathic.

🏛️ Did You Know? The Treasures of Silang
The Silang Church is home to the largest and oldest retablos (altars) in the Philippines, dating back to the 17th century. These are not just decorations. They are National Cultural Treasures. Unlike the gilded altars of Manila, these are carved from local wood and stone, depicting the “Life of Mary” in a style unique to Filipino-Spanish colonial art. Standing here, the contrast was profound: a modern machine parked outside a 400-year-old testament to faith.

The Horizon: The Modern Frontier
As we descended from the highlands, we entered the Metro Nuvali CBD in Sta. Rosa. On these wide, tree-lined boulevards, we opened the throttle. The Access remained incredibly stable at higher cruising speeds. The front fender and sturdy build minimize vibration despite its light weight. It was the perfect finale. A showcase of how a neo-classic scooter can handle the technical demands of a 400-year-old town and the high-speed flow of a futuristic, LEED-certified city.

Closing the Loop
A “Safe Ride” isn’t just about the machine or the gear—it’s about the Access to experiences and the peace of mind while chasing them. We strapped on the official Suzuki helmet provided for the ride. We felt the true essence of the brand’s commitment to safety and style. From the torque-heavy climbs of Tagaytay to the nimble lane-filtering in Silang, the Suzuki Access proved to be a versatile companion. At just 106kg, it’s a heavyweight in style and a lightweight in handling—perfectly bridging the gap between the world we built and the world we are creating.
