Andika Rama Wins 2023 GR GT Cup Asia Regional Finals

GAZOO Racing (GR) GT Cup Asia 2023: Bold strategies pay off for new Asia champion Andika Rama

The 2023 GAZOO Racing (GR) GT Cup Asia regional finals were held on September 24th, 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 15 finalists from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand competed in three races on PlayStation®’s “Gran Turismo 7”.

Mount Panorama Race with GT Supra Gr.4 cars

The first race was held on Mount Panorama with GT Supra Gr.4 cars. Fadtris Isa from Singapore secured the pole position and won the race with a 0.6-second lead ahead of Andika Rama from Indonesia and Ethan Yoh from Singapore.

Tokyo Expressway Race with GR Corolla cars

The second race was held on the Tokyo Expressway with GR Corolla cars. The reverse starting grid placed Benaya Theo from Indonesia in the pole position. Theo won the race, marginally pipping Thanaphat Pungphat from Thailand and Chong Kai Chang from Malaysia to the line.

Spa Francorchamps Race with GR010 Hybrid Hypercars

The third and final race was held on Spa Francorchamps with GR010 Hybrid Hypercars. Luis Moreno from the Philippines secured pole position and maintained a comfortable lead for the first few laps. However, heavy rain forced drivers to make tire changes. Rama, who stayed out on the hard compound tires, timed the pits to perfection and won the race. Wigneswaran from Malaysia came in second, followed by Moreno in third.

Rama finished the championship with a total of 65 points, followed by Moreno with 52 points and Isa with 49 points. Team Indonesia won the team championship with a total of 122 points, followed by Team Malaysia with 105 points and Team Singapore with 98 points.
