A Culinary Escape in the City at Laiya Gourmet Catering & Events

We are always on the lookout for exciting new spots. These spots blend great food with an awesome atmosphere. They are perfect for Breakfast Rides. They are also ideal for those chill Tambike Nights with fellow enthusiasts. And we at Lifestyle On Wheels just stumbled upon the hidden gem right in the heart of Quezon City. The invitation opens an opportunity. At the Food Tasting Festival, we can discover the Laiya Gourmet Catering & Events (LGCE). We attended the recent HAPAG Laiya Gourmet Open House. It took place at the National Labor Center, Elliptical Road, Diliman, Quezon City.

More Than Just a Caterer: A Legacy of Flavor Since 2009

The name “Laiya Gourmet” immediately piqued our interest. Derived from Laiya, San Juan, Batangas, the picturesque hometown of its founder, Mr. Gerry Abanilla, LCGE has been on a remarkable journey of elevating culinary excellence since 2009. They started as a humble concessionaire for various government agencies. These agencies include DENR, DOTC, ILO, NFA, NYC, PRC, TESDA, and DOLE. By collaborating with them, LCGE built a solid foundation of trust and quality.

Your Next #StopOver: Finding the LGCE Cafe

For those of us who love exploring on two wheels (or four!), finding a new spot is always part of the adventure. We kicked off our journey from Parañaque City, and here’s the lowdown on getting to the LGCE cafe:

  • Motorcycle: Roughly 45 minutes. It’s a quick and breezy ride. The route traverses the service road or expressway of SLEx, EDSA, and Quezon City Circle.
  • Car (without traffic): Around 52 minutes.
  • Commuting (with traffic): Be prepared for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. The duration depends on the public transportation, specifically the jeepney, going to EDSA. It also depends on the bus transfer from EDSA to Quezon City Circle.

Now, a little heads-up, the cafe isn’t immediately visible from the main road (but it’s on the main road). And this makes LGCE feel like it’s not within the city. Our pro tip? Once you hit the Quezon City Circle Hall, start a slow and careful maneuver, passing Kalayaan Ave. and Maharlika. That’s your landmark!

A Green Oasis in the Urban Jungle

As you pull into the main gate of the National Labor Center, you’re in for a treat. We were immediately welcomed by the lush greenery. It is a truly surprising nature-inspired haven nestled amidst the central traffic of Quezon City. It’s a kind of place that instantly makes you feel relaxed and reconnected with nature. The parking is ample for both motorcycles and cars. LGCE is very accommodating to cyclists, making it an ideal pitstop for your next “padyak”.

From Humble Beginnings to Culinary Powerhouse

LGCE’s growth story is inspiring. Over the years, they’ve expanded exponentially. They have reached a point where they can simultaneously cater to up to 10 events. This means they can serve an incredible 3,000 guests in a single gathering. Their secret? A diverse menu that spans Filipino, International, Fusion, and Halal Cuisine. This culinary versatility has led to the establishment of successful restaurants. These include Chef Utoy’s in Pag-Asa, QC. Another is Inay Cressing’s Barbecue in Calle Tamarraw, Valenzuela City.

Unlocking Your Next Event with LCGE

The Food Tasting Festival wasn’t just about sampling delicious food. It also gave us an incredible insight into LGCE’s comprehensive event packages. If you’re planning an upcoming celebration, a corporate gathering, or simply need some delectable food, here it is:
